Oh good catch. I missed that. Updated my old records.
WE really liked VD’s '24 vintage of pinots.
Looks like VD only bottled 3 barrels. I would think Cam got considerably more than half.
Yeah, I recall the initial release said 150 cases but it seems like there must have been way more for it to have lasted this long. I know I pumped up how good I thought it was, but I think it was pretty popular. For people new to Cam that want a richer style pinot, it’s a great entry point. I already have 15 bottles.
My fam and friends love the Lot 20 but some times with accelerated bottle age (at 73°F) put the RS to the front, which is not my thing. Drinking down the cases of 20 and replace them with Lot 99.
Lot 83 got me wary from 2 blended vineyards, Lot 35 was exactly like that and it’s in a super awkward stage right now.
Thank you for the timely comment.
It’s roasted chicken night at our home. We were planning to have a Lot 35 but we’ll wait for another day.
Lot 35 is at my local Costco right now, I grabbed a bottle then remembered I still had some at home but wasn’t a big fan of it right now so I put it back.
I have enjoyed 35. It’s way less hedonistic than Lot 20 and there isn’t really much similarity. Aside from awkward stage it had good bones. I’ve had a couple bottles of it and didn’t have any real complaints aside from I agree there was some amount of disjointed feeling. I actually found it to be enjoyable and happily drank it on several occasions over 2 nights. I’ve poured out something like twenty bottles of wine this year and Lot 35 was definitely not one of them, nor were any CamX bottles in there for that matter. What may not be to someone’s taste is obviously matter of opinion, but I think there is a good wine in 35 waiting to just come together a bit more.
I agree, I’m not asking much for $9 Pinot. It’s that yeasty nose that I can’t even get pass at the moment lol.
I find that is fine in Sparkling wines. You like it there?
Let’s say lipsticks on women is different from lipsticks on pigs. Yeast in Pinot is a flaw in my eyes, I don’t seek out yeast in finished red wine.
Just went back to my inventory…and I’ve personally drank 7 of the original 12 bottles. My last notes didn’t pick up yeast, but I’m definitely willing to presume you and I have somewhat different palates AND you very well may have a more sensitive palate that picked up on something that bothers you and didn’t bottle me. I gave it a personal score of 92 points and thought it was freakin delicious the last go around.
I totally got the yeasty note in lot 35 as well. Maybe something that KhaN and I are just sensitive to.
Ditto - down six and one of my favorites (lighter than 20, more fruity than 31). However I haven’t had any since march so it may be a more recent development.
Rationalizing our torrid purchases of accumulating Cam-X wines, my California friend stated it best, ~ Nature abhors a vacuum, so does a wine vault.
Missed out on LOT 97 the first time, should probably grab a 6er now.
He’s such a good salesman I wanted to buy another case!
The only reason I haven’t bought #97 is because I will have no where to put it when it arrives. But to give Cam some credit, it is more of a challenge to say NO every time new cases surface. 4th time now I believe…
Has anyone asked about general dates when fall shipping will start?
They will ship whenever you want, just need to request it (assuming it’s bottled). No idea when it will automatically ship, I think late October/early Nov but just a guess.
