Cam X Wine Company

I have a wonderful marriage, but it allows me no joy during what we call winepocalypse. I have to have everything held at UPS and then sneak out to either bring cases to offsite storage or home surreptitiously. It’s all the stress of an affair with zero sex.

That actually would be a funny thread for the whole wineberserkers community. “ I don’t need to hide my wine consumption from my spouse but sometimes I need to hide the delivery when it all comes at once. What are funny ways that you have found yourself softening the blow of wine deliveries coming all at the same time”

Outta sight, outta mind!

Cheers to that!

My wife asked if I would handle the kids while she goes on an expensive 10 day girls trip to portugal in late September. Total no brainer.

@Jonah_P, my wife is on a 12-day trip in Portugal (to walk the Camino) right now! Too early in Atlanta for what you are talking about, however, but funny you say that.

Fall shipping season? That doesn’t start here until around here until Thanksgiving. Way too hot to ship before, and even then it can be randomly too warm. I can’t imagine asking for wine to be shipped until then.

Me too! After 38 years my wife has largely accepted all of my multiple shenanigans.
BUTT, I still find myself quickly stashing away the larger deliveries! Yep, outta sight, outta mind…
Go figure??? :upside_down_face:

I’m semi-retired so have all wine shipped to my workplace. I then just sneak it from my trunk into the cellar when my wife isn’t looking.

She says my wine buying is an obsession, but the name “Wineberserkers” kind of says it all.

Tell her it’s not an obsession. It’s merely a joyous shenanigan? Good luck :four_leaf_clover: :four_leaf_clover: :wine_glass:

What’s funny is that I don’t buy that much wine compared to a lot of WBers, (about 30 cases a year of red wines). I seem to remember 1 of you guys who bought 85 cases of Cam X in only a year or so. Does anyone here have a wife who is OK with his large wine buying quantities?

Tomorrows got to be the day right?

Maybe, or wed if the sale gets extended

Decided to wade into the Cam X waters after scanning this thread for a bit. Looking for any recommendations on reds that are currently on sale. Was going to pick up a mixed case or two. Any must buys? I not big on Zinfandels, but otherwise enjoy most CA reds.

Or, likely, Lot 96 to extend the anticipation!

There is lot 96 still to come. So might be next week.

For lot 50, we got 24 hours advance notice.

Drumroll,…

Hi Matt,

You might want to check out the “What Cam X are you drinking tonight?” thread to get some further ideas, but here’s a few:
Lot 05 2023 Knights Valley Meritage - Mistakenly left this uncorked for 3 days and it was still delicious
Lot 16 2023 Syrah - Haven’t opened one yet but have 2 cases. Others have said a big boy that needs time
Lot 26 or Lot 34 2024 Petite Sirah - Can’t go wrong with either one if you are into the varietal
Lot 52 2024 Gamay Noir - I’ve enjoyed it as a fresher, early early drinker
I don’t think you can go wrong with any of the Pinots, Cab Francs, and Cabs. Personally just haven’t tapped into those yet.

Hope this helps and happy hunting!

Thanks for the reply, I wasn’t aware of that thread. Will check it out. Appreciate the overview as well.

Do you like Pinot or Cabernet more? I think both samplers are a good bet.

Out of the ones in the bottle shop, I would go with lot 20 for Pinot and lot 32 for Cabernet. Lot 25 has also gotten rave reviews but I didn’t love my last bottle.

@David.Berman is a big fan of lot 21 (if you want cab franc) but haven’t had it.

Matt,

Here’s a Cabernet Sampler still available:
