California wines do not suck (Keever, Bressler, Lagier Meredith, etc)

We had 05 Keever yesterday.
It’s in a good place right now.

Thanks Steve…I remember drinking the 2001 Paloma Merlot shortly after release and found it to be rich and stuffed with fruit, but also balanced…I really enjoyed it back then but alas, I don’t have any left to sample with some bottle age on them, so I appreciate your tasting note…

If I can resist blowing all my money on OR pinot, they will get an order this year. Promise! [wow.gif]
I am liking the cool climate syrah. [cheers.gif]

Todd,
I visited Keever a couple years ago and truly enjoyed meeting Olga Keever and touring her winery. I loved her Cabernet and bought several bottles.

+1 - Never had a bad wine from them and doubt I ever will. the scores made me laugh out loud.

Todd - my buddy Bob and I drove up and down that road every day for a week when we stayed at Aaron’s guest house not far from L/M up on Mt Veeder. Fun stuff lol especially early morning going down into the fog.

Wow, yeah, ‘fun’ in the fog! The corners are completely blind even without the cloud cover!

The road is not as bad as their ‘driveway’…

I’m guessing that because it wasn’t Cab or Syrah, that’s an immediate 20 point deduction

Agreed.

Actually, she should offer a 75-Point Parker Package now while the press is hot. We’d jump all over it.

Sad, but true.

A 2004 Keever Cab was fantastic with a Flannery ribeye tonight.
