2015, 2018, and 2010 are my current favorites. 2019 is up there too.
1994
1991
1992
That is all.
My son was born in 1991, but drinks rarely due to health issues. He tried a 1991 Taylor Quinta do Vargellas Port during his last visit and enjoyed it thoroughly. A 1991 Chateau Montelena Estate Cabernet awaits his next visit.
Best wishes for better health!
I had the first of 6 of my 2015 Rivers-Marie Napa a month or two ago and it was incredible. Need to find one or two more in the locker to get to in the short term
So you only like old Cali Cabs? I agree that 91 and 94 were great vintages but it has been a minute since I had any '91 Marthas Vineyard (that was a great wine). I had a '12 of Schrader last night that was just fine!
'18 to me is still a bit young.
And they are still cheap enough for a poor Chinatown noodle-slinger to afford. The new stuff is too oaky, sweet, and alcoholic for my Yak Palate, also.
15’ is going to end up being extremely underrated as a vintage. I’ve enjoyed 15s and think they’re gonna go another 20+, the well made ones anyways.
That is a special bottle. One of my best California Cabernets that I have had the privilege to drink!
I think 19 will be better than 18 in 10 years time, probably in the minority here, but I feel the tannin on 19 will makes these wines more interesting than the fruit of the 18s.
@Victor_Hong How was the 94 LJ Howell? Coincidentally, have this exact bottle on deck for Thanksgiving meal.
Now, thanks to K&L, I have acquired another birth year wine for my son; 1991 Oakville Ranch Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon.
Anyone ever had this one? Inquiring minds want to know.
These can be really great, especially for the price. I scored one at auction a couple years ago and it was phenomenal!
tannin quality on the 2019 vintage is amazing. Very drinkable young but defiantly have the guts to age
Stunning in an Old World way, with a long life ahead.
100% agree with this statement, 2019 is all about the tannin , in a good way
The run of cabs from 12’-19’, excluding 17’ was about as good as it can get. 17’ may drink well later. I haven’t touched any of them yet though.
