Cabot fall 2014 offering

Just when I thought I might be able to keep the wine expenditures in check for a few weeks, an email from Kimberly Cabot was waiting in my inbox this morning!

I have really enjoyed their various syrah’s, but the (very) little feedback I’ve seen on their pinot leads me to believe that it may be a bit more lush style than I typically like. Any advice/opinions there? The zinfandel also sounds nice, really looking forward to trying these.

The lineup:
2011 Pinot Noir Anderson Valley
2011 Pinot Noir Nash Mill Vineyard
2011 Syrah Marier Vineyard
2011 Zinfandel Marier Vineyard
2010 Syrah Humboldt County
2010 Syrah Klamath Cuvee

I suspect everything will be excellent. I love their Pinots. My wife got laid off recently so my wine budget is zero, but hopefully that gets rectified in time to buy some!

I just bought a mixed case at an excellent price. I’m always happy with Cabot!

Guilty as charged, I’m the only one with tasting notes in CT. John/Kimberly sent bottles of the '11 PN to falltacular last winter. Here they are with full disclosure. I think '11 PN in Cali is the best vintage.

just sent in an order. Really enjoy the syrahs.

Brig, have you heard anything about the Kimberly’s fruit?

There is no Kimberly’s Syrah in 2010 and 11 due to the divergent style the vineyard produced. The 2010 Humboldt and Klamath Cuvee are both mostly Kimberly’s Vineyard Syrah, with bits of other vineyards blended in. The wines are MUCH more cool climate in style with secondary characters and spices dominating.
