All time- 91’ Maya
Overall-Laurel Glen
Current-Maybach
2007 Myriad Dr. Crane blew anything else that year away but a Realm To Kalon from that vintage was pretty damn close. I had a 2002 Herb Lamb that was amazing. A 2005 Maiden was sublime. Too many great wine to have to pick just one.
1987 Montelena Estate
In my earlier post, I might have misunderstood the question. I thought it was “what would you go to, year after year”. Perhaps that’s not the question that was asked. If the question is “what specific wine/vintage” represents your favorite “cab”, I would go with a 1959 Lafite. Not all cab, but certainly mostly Cab.
It it needs to be California, it’d be a 1973 Mayacamas.
Mt. Eden, any vintage, but especially the 1973 which was beyond memorable. It was panty-dropping.
Maybach. So enjoyable I’ve only opened a few because I want to save them.
That said, I’m digging Myriad, Rudius and Jones Family.
I’ve only had the 2006 but I can see where you are coming from.
Maybach and Myriad for me.
Lately, my favorite Cabs to drink are Bud’s Maybach and Myriad.
Ridge Monte Bello and Heitz Martha’s.
Maybach
Harris and spottswoode can trade punches with maybach any given day though
Come to Noo Yawk sometime, to share some of my 1994 and 1996.
Pott.
Shafer HSS…consistently great…IMHO
Shafer HS and DR Stephens Moose Hill
Greatest I’ve had? '91 Seavey, '94&'95 Bryant, '92 Harlan, '95 Araujo
Recently - '07 Maybach
Consistency? - Beringer PR, Spottswoode, Maybach
1990 Leoville Poyferre (nobody stated domestic)
All Time - 1990 Mondavi Reserve
Last Year’s fav - 1999 Heitz Martha’s Vineyard
Current Producer - Larkmead
Not exactly sure but I’d probably choose between a well aged Montelena Estate and a well aged Mondavi Reserve. Although I suspect a properly aged Dominus (which I have not had) would be in the mix too.
I’m assuming domestic…otherwise it’s a whole different discussion.
For me, it’s Chimney Rock, Shafer and Sherwin
