WTSO.
Tanzer’s note is poetry to my eyes“The 2006 Seavey has soil-inflected aromas of warm stones, underbrush and dried berries, with a very ripe, almost liqueur-like aspect…then, big, chewy and deep, with a compelling sweetness to its smoke, tobacco and espresso flavors. Just juicy enough to maintain verve…there’s something sexy and exotic about this wine.”
Seems like a great deal. Everyone else seems to be at least $14 more, plus ship. Some $25 more.
I made this wine and was surprised to see it on WTSO today. Bittersweet. I hope it helps Seavey find some new fans. I have always thought the 2006 was a sleeping beauty sort of wine, powerful but restrained. Almost a meditation wine.
Seavey is one of the few California Cabs that has provided me pleasure in multiple vintages, and is one that can be fantastic. Sadly, I am not buying wine right now (the tax man is beating on my door) so no Seavey for me.
Hi Matt. I have not had this one in 2006 but have had the Caravina. it was pretty nice. My last comment in my own note mentions ‘wanting to try the estate’, so i was glad to see these come around. I am looking forward to tasting it. 2006 is a sleeper vintage for many others as well.
A great deal and on any true Napa cab lover can’t pass on. Grabbing the magnums of 2000 Seavey a few weeks back for $69 will be the deal of the year, and I don’t even like magnums…
Glad you liked the Caravina, Mike. It was fun blending those wines. I do think you’ll enjoy the Estate. I’m sitting on my stash until 2016 at the earliest.
The 2000 is a lot of fun, too. It’s aging beautifully and I think it might help you get over your magnum aversion.
I have three bottles remaining of the six 2000’s I purchased if anyone is interested. Just too much wine and while it’s good, I’m probably not going to get around to these guys.

Can you give up a good place to buy mags, that is a great price. TIA
