byob Arizona

I’ll be in Phoenix for several days. What are the byob laws in Arizona?

Cannot BYOB in AZ. Bummer

Thanks for the answer I didn’t want to read:).

Atlas Bistro

Or

Coup des Tartes, had a very good meal here and BYOB

Atlas received a good recent writeup for their current chef.

Coup des Tartes is in the middle of a relocation, not sure if they’re open in their new location and not sure if they’ll be BYOB.

There’s a sushi place called Hana that has a great reputation (sadly haven’t been) that is BYOB. I don’t think they take reservations though.

Atlas is fantastic and it’s connected to a wine shop with decent prices and selection.

Thanks for the info.

Mark - now that we are living here as our primary residence and Chicago is seconday, I feel like I have entered the wine witness protection program. No BYOB, few notable wine dinners, and a lack of a visible (at least to me) wine scene. AZ is a fabulous place to live, but the wine scene is certainly lacking.

Jim, I lived there on and off for 18 years myself. I agree with your assessment. Two possible theories: 1) the relentless heat – mmm, yummy full-bodied red wine out by the pool on a 108-degree day!; and 2) the relative dominance of national chains in AZ vs. smaller specialty stores. The local big-entity industry protection laws probably do no favors, either…

Jim I agree on the lack of organized wine dinners. We just need a few fellow Berserkers to get together to change that!

Agreed!

Mark, take a hike up Camelback Mt with ReNae. Its right in Scottsdale and a great little day hike. Pack a lunch and bring a cool white for a picnic at or near the top. There was a upscale food market in Scottsdale that had a decent wine selection for a picnic, at least.
