Buyer beware of Parcelle wine in NYC. I placed an order for 2 bottles of 5 different champagnes from them and received confirmation and then with out notice they reduced my order to just 2 bottles a week later. They never emailed me or anything. I found out when I checked my credit card statement and noticed a refund. I tried calling their phone number, it appears to not work. I tried their chat feature and again no response. I then emailed them and they finally responded. They said there was a âtechnicalâ problem with there system and they couldnât fulfill everyoneâs request, so they allocated the bottles. This is not how to run a business.
You placed a phone order or an online order?
Lots of problem with online ordering for sought after bottles. Bad customer service not to reach out with status on your order.
respectfully, this is very far from a âBuyer Bewareâ situation.
Reductions for allocated wines happen, but they definitely should have reached out. It may well be that someone doesnât want two bottles of wine when they ordered ten, especially if there are shipping logistics involved.
IDK, itâs kind of a mild buyer beware situation, but any kind of order changes without communication is at least a data point. Iâd find it relevant whether this was for pickup or delivery. If they had gone ahead and shipped 2 without communication that would be a definite buyer beware for me. If the idea was to get to it later, then much less so. Regardless, there should be communication so that the customer can make whatever adjustments they are inclined to make, which may include sourcing the wine elsewhere.
but thatâs not as dramatic / attention-seeking as OPâs
I think it rates as something of concern. He said he received a confirmation. That should count for somethingâand then no communication afterward. I find this almost only in NYC shopsâthough not all of them. I personally would not use them in the future.
I placed online order right after it dropped on their website. They then came out with an offer email the next day.
If it was ordered over the net, it often happens that inventory has not caught up with sales, especially if it is a hot item at a good price.
The lack of communication is a problem, and the ghosting even more so. Thatâs not how you treat a customer.
I had similar issues with them and asked to be taken off their list.
They actually invoiced me for bottles and processed my credit card⌠only to email me back to say pricing was wrong and that I had a choice between paying the higher price or getting a full refund.
I pointed out that a sale had been made and I expected them to honor terms. They refused. Turned into a whole kerfuffle and I decided to just walk away from them. Whole prickly NYC vibe âŚ
Too many other places to spend my $.
Iâve also stopped buying from Parcelle after they stopped offering local delivery OR pickup from one of their locations without warning. Min cost $50 to get a case to Brooklyn with no other option. I had to cajole them to let me pick up a case that I had been storing with them from their retail store.
Thatâs unfortunate. I tried to pickup some wine in storage as well and could no longer find the option to. When I contacted them, they offered to ship for free.
I stopped buying from their website because of this but still support their bar/restaurant! One of the very few places in NYC where you can get great bottles for less than 2x retail.
this sounds more like âbuyer was disappointedâ. Assuming you asked for some really choice things, there just arent that many of them in the world. Grant isnt a friend or anything but Ive met him a few times and he is a totally good dude and I know many that trust and respect and spend a good bit of money with him.
I felt the same way about the OP, but the other posts here make it sound like this is not a great operation.
not to mention their prices are routinely the highest around for any given bottle, so not sure what incentive someone has to buy from them to begin with unless they are the only listing left on w-s.
No, wrong! I find this to be a NYC thing, where even âgood dudesâ will sell wine out from under you to better, more longstanding customers, including other âgood dudes.â Of course, I could be wrong, but nothing else Iâve read here suggests otherwise.
âgood dudesâ need to look out for other âgood dudesâ aka the ITB code of honor
Everyone glossing over like OP is overreacting
with out notice they reduced my order to just 2 bottles a week later. They never emailed me or anything.
Not great
I tried their chat feature and again no response.
wut
I then emailed them and they finally responded. They said there was a âtechnicalâ problem with there system and they couldnât fulfill everyoneâs request, so they allocated the bottles.
-1 for bullshitting
I tried calling their phone number, it appears to not work.
I checked, and their FAQ says you are allowed to text them, or email.
They have no phone number, In 2025.
Bonus:
Both their locations are âUnclaimedâ on Yelp (yikes), and one of them has 3.8/5 stars out of 24 reviews.
Do you know how consistently you have have to piss off the normies to get 3.8 stars on Yelp?
Yâall owe @CraigT an apology.
I donât know about an apology, but I certainly owe him a huge thanks. His other reviews on Google are masterful.
