Burgophiles: seeking advice for Fathers' Day dinner

Having a family dinner at Bishop’s in Vancouver. I’d like to open something special. My burg collection is both in its infancy and shallow. Here are a few I’m considering:

I have two apiece of these wines:
2002 Maison Albert Bichot Echezeaux
2002 Maison Albert Bichot Grands-Echezeaux Domaine du Clos Frantin
2006 Bouchard Père et Fils Corton-Le Corton
2006 Thibault Liger-Belair Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru Les Saint Georges

I have singletons of the following:
1999 Domaine des Lambrays Clos des Lambrays
1999 Domaine Rene Leclerc Griotte-Chambertin
2002 Mongeard-Mugneret Grands-Echezeaux

I didn’t start buying significantly until the '09 and '10 vintages, when I went long and deep on reasonably priced La Pousse d’Or, Simon Bize, Pavelot, Dubreuil-Fontaine, Nicolas Rossignol, Chandon de Briailles.

Thanks in advance for advice, and Happy Fathers’ Day!

1999 Domaine Rene Leclerc Griotte-Chambertin is ready to fly.

i agree, wait a few years with 2002/06 and open the 1999, Clos des Lambrays is just at the beginning, but a very good wine with aeration.

Both 1999s with tons of air.

Agree…

I’d go LeClerc.

Bichot Echezeaux.

Ditto - the '99s have too much pedigree to drink now with too much potential going forward - this should be showing some of it’s brawny fruit now and if I remember right, these were pretty showy wines young - so they should be ready to roll -

Just found a 1996 Jean Raphet et Fils Clos Vougeot I thought I had drunk. What about this one?

Now there’s a thought. I presume it’s the VV? this was drinking well with some air as of 2 years ago.

Was my thoughts

I would open any 2002 in advance of 1999.

This is singing now (provided fine storage).
Otherwise the 99s.

I recommend to slow-ox it; open 5 hours in advance -. and decant only immediately before serving (just for sediment).

For future reference, buy some 2007s so you have wine to drink while waiting for your 2009s and 2010s. On your list, esp. get some 2007 Pousse d’Or. I have bought a bunch of 2007 Chandon de Briailles (and have heard really good things from friends) but have not tried any yet.

Yeah, if I was in that boat, I’d be backfilling on older vintages generally. Wines from the mid-95s aren’t any more expensive that current releases, for the most part. Envoyer gets some in. See also Hart Davis Hart and Benchmark.

Howard,
Thanks for the advice. I just picked up some 2007 Chandon de Briailles Pernand Vergelesses Ile de Vergelesses from Envoyer for a song.
Cheers,
Warren

Completely agree- particularly with the wines in question.
