2005 Araujo:
More of a medium weight effort with intense but silky tannins. The fruit is dark and rich, but balanced. The finish is long and seemless. Not a fruit bomb, but still a profound wine. Really well made wine with a long future ahead of it. Nicely done, indeed! 95-96+ points.
1999 Pavie:
Very thick and dense fruit contained within a shell of softening but potent tanins and a blanket of loamy, lightly musty essence. Way more thick than the Araujo, which was somewhat surprising. I think this wine is no where near its peak, and may have gained a little weight and depth over the last 5 years. 93-94+ points.
