Brief Tasting Notes on Four Wines

  • 2004 Anderson’s Conn Valley Vineyards Éloge - USA, California, Napa Valley (8/9/2009)
This is an outstanding wine, bold and crisp. Spices, and fruits, lots of fruits. The price point is an added bonus.
  • 2003 Dominus Estate - USA, California, Napa Valley (8/9/2009)
Not sure what to expect from this wine when I opened it given the diversity in opinions. Pop and pour. Turned out to be very good, #2 for me in a flight of six wines. Aroma of dark and red berries, currant, and tobacco. Nice structure, good mouth feel and flavors of red berry, coffee and plum.
  • 1999 Mauro Sebaste Barolo Prapò - Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo (8/9/2009)
Decanted for two hours. Elegance is the word that comes to mind in drinking this. Incredible nose, very smooth and rich mouth feel with medium finish. The only downside was this was my last bottle.
  • 2005 Ghost Block Cabernet Sauvignon Estate - USA, California, Napa Valley, Oakville (8/9/2009)
Drinking very well right now. Nose of dark fruits and coffee. Smooth mouth feel and taste reconfirms the nose with wonderful ripe black berries, mocha, vanilla, and espresso. Good balance and nice finish.

I believe we had the '04 Eloge at The Todd’s the Friday of Berserkerfest, and I recall enjoying it more than the '07 barrel sample, possibly just because it has been given some bottle aging

Thanks for the notes. I tried one bottle of the Ghost and really enjoyed it. And the Prapo is really good. I am holding my last bottle for 5-10 more years.

Still hoping that they would do another wineberserker special other than the 24 case offer for the PS that is on the board.

I think we have to wait until Dave gets back from some trip - I believe it was to be Tuesday…

There are some potential purchases on this forum, just no way for them to take advantage of them yet!
