Lots of love for Brewer Clifton from Parker this go roung…compared the 2007 Cargasacchi Pinot to 1990 DRC…yowza!!
I tossed the mailer. It was hard to swallow the pricing back in the day when we didn’t have a major international economic meltdown. Now, it’s an easy pass. I didn’t even open it for fear of seeing the prices.
I’m in for a couple of the Cargasacchi - I am intrigued…and I also had a 2006 Mount Carmel and thought it was really stunning (although expensive)…
For only $60 a bottle I am going to give them another try!
I have the '06 Mt. Carmel, and yes, it is pricey, at $76.00…I’m letting it sit a while.
Which one was $60/btl?
Parker has made the comparison to DRC before, I don’t get it. Lots of variation and ridiculously expensive.
Complete joke.
I haven’t had any recently, but I didn’t see the similarity. Sure, both are Pinot and both see some stems and some oak, but there are a LOT of wines out there made from that mold, and there are only a few that can fairly be compared to DRC, and most of them already cost as much

Cargasacchi 07 is about $63 a bottle - that seems to me a fair price for single vineyard pinot noir…I don’t know what DRC tastes like (can’t afford it) but based on my enjoyment of the Mount Carmel (I thought it was too expensive) I am willing to give these a go at the lower price.
I’ve paid more than $63 for worse
Hmmmmm . . . .

Are you inferring that because of your post above they deleted your account??
I got the same e-mail 3 times today.
I am certainly inferring something . . .
But either way it is clear: they don’t need me as a customer any more. I was reading Parker’s comedy issue (184) today and fielded a couple of calls about BC actually. I am happy to report that I sent business elsewhere. So, it seems, the feeling is mutual- I don’t need them either.

This would be greatly disheartening to me if true - can you or Joe seek out the answers?
Is it not the consumer’s decision whether or not to buy a product, and/or be on the list?
I know both Greg and Steve make some fantastic wines, many of which I am a BIG fan of - Melville, Palmina, and even Brewer-Clifton (if only they were more affordable!), so I hope this is either an oversight or just a coincidence.
I couldnt have more underimpressed with the 06 lineup. Thin. Weak fruit. Nothing to command the price. Major let down from their production a couple years back.
If they won’t sell wine to a true critic or won’t let people post about how they feel about the wines, I for one will not be purchasing. I don’t like bullying
I am pretty interested in trying some of the 07’s… hopefully I cross paths with them at some point.
Seems like some feathers high up in their roost have been ruffled. All that I can say now, but I know that the principals have seen this thread specifically and have taken notice.
I posted a very critical comment on “the other board” about B-C quite some time ago and I continue to receive mailers. So I am skeptical about the suggestion they have dropped customers for posting critical comments.
That being said, anyone who buys Pinot Noir from any source based on an opinion from Robert Parker is foolish. And his Chardonnay opinions are pretty darn worthless as well, IMO.

Well, there you go. Your Wine Advocate subscription has just been cancelled.
