Breaking a voluntary 5 week wine fast:What Red Wine…???

Each year I take a break from drinking for my annual physical…this year the dates conflicted my original appointment thus the longer then usual fast…

I would like a wine under $50.00 that could get me back into the game…

What would be your first red wine you would drink after a wine drought …?..

I don’t really understand the concept, since the longest I’ve gone w/o wine for many years is a couple days. But I’d try a village Burgundy with something simple and appropriate.

Otherwise it really depends on what you’ll be eating with the wine.

Why limit it to drinking?

So you want what we call around here (by todays standards)…an everyday drinker?
Sad but true.

Bring that ‘guitar’ to a pawn shop and get the 2004 Buccella spoken of elsewhere here… [foilhat.gif]

I don’t think I’ve ever gone longer than two weeks, and only that long because of the flu. When it’s been a while, lighter reds (like Cru Beaujolais or some Pinots) are more appealing to me than bruisers. I have to work my way up.

Yellow Tail. Splurge, go for the Reserve.

What were your favorite wines before the fast?

Todd,

Zins, Blends, Nebbiolos, I am tired of Spain for now…Carmenére single varietal…cold climate PN’s…wines that have a long hang time with plush fruit, but what do I drink to get back into the game…???..

How about finding an aged Nebbiolo locally? You don’t have any wine of your own stored in a cellar?

Mission Fine Wines had sent me this today:

_2003 Giacomo Conterno Barolo Cascina Francia $95 now $65!

I know its above $50, but hey, you only live…twice?

Todd,

Ah, yes I have wine …that’s the point…looking for something I don’t have… [shrug.gif]

I have that producer on the list…it’s about time I try Mike’s wine, but we shall see…I did locate one in my price range…TY…nice !

The wine is ordered 2 bottles…TN’s to follow… this wine really sounds like it will be fun…great QPR…
