Tonight’s dinner was braised bone-in Churro lamb shoulder, braised in lamb stock with onion, garlic, rosemary, celery, & juniper berries. Accompanying veggie was organic corn with salt, black pepper, & butter. Wine was a 1996 Dobra Zemlja Syrah - dark ruby in color; rich spicy berries in nose & flavors; rich mid-palate with adequate acidity; and a medium-long berry finish. It was quite good with the lamb shoulder. This was the first vintage we bought from Milan & Co. It accounted for our future purchases and was better than most subsequent.
Then for dessert we had three Ciao Bella Gelati - Tahitian Vanilla, Chocolate Hazelnut, & Dark Chocolate. Carollee had Creamy Caramel and Rich Dark Chocolate sauces on hers; I just had the chocolate sauce, since I don’t care for caramel & chocolate. I also had some more of the Rhum Barbacourt (I’m glad I found this in the back of the liquor shelf). Carollee just had water.
