Brad Pitt..."I'm a farmer now..."

Method vigneron?

I say congrats to him, and I hope he means it when he says he is into the whole package.

The only question is, why were you reading Perez Hilton?!

Just because one owns a farm or occasionally trys a hand at it (what is cleaning the woods?), doesn’t make them a farmer…anymore than a local farmer friend is an A-list celebrity because he occasionally acts slow or hard of hearing when people ask him inane questions!

I keep hearing anecdotes about how the Brangelina label is going gangbusters. You selling the stuff Roberto? I don’t get it, but if true…good for them.

No, I’ve never even seen a bottle.

Much like Angelina, it’s an attractive package.

Sold exclusively through People magazine and Us Weekly. rolleyes

I picked up a bottle from a local shop recently, and it is actually pretty damn decent. Competes with some Tavels that I like at about the same price (~$22).

I just had the 2013 Miraval Rose last week and it’s a killer bottle of Rose - The Perrin family is producing the wine for them - and proceeds go to various charities - so it’s hard to argue with their intentions.

AND - I am mainly disappointed with 2013 Roses as a whole so far - low acidity, nothing really jumping out of any of them so far (outside of a couple thrilling Roses from Cigales) - so the Miraval may be the best Rose I’ve had from 2013 yet -

I had a bottle for the first time this year and agree that it’s a pretty good tasting wine. I would recommend it. They seem like good people that have a good winemaking family at the helm.

I would echo the thoughts on 2013s at least from Provence where we mostly drink out of although Corsican Roses have proved pretty nice if a tick up in a price. Still trying to drink 12s although I did not like them as much the '11s. Have not liked the Miraval that much. Too much texture. Almost like light red wine to me. Too stylish for my tastes.

There seems to be a change of appellation on the Triennes bottling. Don’t know if I did not notice in 2012 but it definitely seems to be different than the 2011. For all I know that could be an administrative thing. Anyone know? I mean, I know Jeremy does but he’s not here all the time.

Define attractive?

Is it showing some “legs”?

Yes, please keep us abreast of this…

The 2013 Miravol is a nice rose and on the low end of the recent pricing, but I think the Whispering Angel is a bit better. I’ve had both a couple times this year and preferred the latter.

Before we reach the bottom…

Had the rose tonight in a lineup with two others (Scherrer and Caldwell). Definitely stood its ground despite my initial skepticism. My secondary thought is that if people have a problem racking Turley bottles, I can only imagine the issues storing this one. Although long-term is not so much a consideration with rose.

Agree with this. I wouldn’t call it “killer,” but I would describe it as very good Rose, most definitely in the top tier (with the caveat that I only have one wine at the very top - Tempier). And the bottle is very nice, and the price isn’t ridiculous, and it’s pretty widely available (e.g., Bevmo). If a lot of newbie wine drinkers buy this because the the Brangelina connection, then they are not getting ripped off, and they are being exposed to some quite decent wine.

Brangelina silliness aside, I think the Miraval is very good Rose and I’ll echo the comments about 2013 Provencal Rose generally lacking. The Miraval is $22 here at Costco. I can get two 2013 Muga or almost two Bargemone for the same tab. I really liked the 2011 Bieler, 2012 not so much and finally, the 2013 Bieler is relegated for service to people I don’t like.
