Bollinger Special Cuvee N/V Brut

Can’t say, but having had a couple of bottles of the most recent release Bolly NV in the last week, neither fit a “sweet” description…

As part of the “anti-sweet police” I give this one a +1. [drinkers.gif] I do tend to like them perceptually less sweet than more. As discussed in another thread the perception of “sweetness” is not always a result of dosage. Or “don’t go by the numbers”. Just making it simple.

Nice note - right on the money!

Haven’t had one in too long.

Soooooooooo . . . It’s Bolly Time! flirtysmile

If interested, I received an email from calwine, $49.95 per bottle with 6 bottle purchase and free ground shipping. No affiliation.

Is that right? I thought the sweetness was how well the label aligns with the moon and the satellite pluto? [stirthepothal.gif]

Hovering at $45 a bottle here in DFW, and I like the wine at that price point.

Fascinating. The absolute lowest price I’ve seen Bolly NV in WA is $49.99. It’s more often $60, and I’ve even seen it at $75!! recently. Meanwhile, other big house brands (Nic Fueillate, Henriot) have been doing a nose-dive in price.

However, it is a house favorite. The problem is keeping the house husband from drinking it all. I’ve finally started putting some in offsite storage to keep his grubby hands off it. I like it with a few years on it.

Bollinger doesn’t claim to be biodynamic that I know of. [wink.gif]

Touche, love it!

  • N.V. Bollinger Champagne Special Cuvée Brut - France, Champagne (4/8/2011)
Cellared since 2008 which has resulted in a slightly rounder texture; time seems to have mellowed some of its gutsiness and punch. Still quite bold, however, with notes of red and golden apples, pear, malted barley, flint, and crushed minerals (and a bit reminiscent of a NV Henriot). Weighty and full on the palate with a long finish. A very good Champagne, but I am a little doubtful whether the wine was improved with age. I suspect not. 88-89 points. (88 pts.)
