Bodega/Tomales Bay & Napa Recs

Not sure why I’m having trouble envisioning big, burly, strapping Tuite in an enzyme bath neener

Not for your eyes Alan! [wow.gif]

Well, John, how was your trip out here?

Glad you bumped this thread. We’ll be in the area the first week of November. How’s the weather? Is it damp and rainy?

dh

November can be rainy, but just as likely to be clear with temps in the high 60s or low 70s. In SF, the best weather months are in the Spring and in the Fall.

What a day out in West Marin. I drove out to the Pierce Point Ranch parking lot, which is the trailhead of the Tomales Point Trail. It was 84 degrees when I parked, after driving through Pt. Reyes Station and Inverness, which registered 85-86 degrees around 1:30. It was hazy, but otherwise there was great visibility. I brought binoculars and enjoyed views down the coast to Pt. Reyes and up the coast to Bodega Bay and beyond. Great view of Mt. St. Helena, and I could see lots of people at Dillon Beach. Plenty of wildflowers in yellow, orange, white, violet and purple. I saw several groups containing 10-30 tule elk.

This is a very special place.

My son ate at Nick’s about a week ago and waxed poetic. Wants to meet me there for a dinner.

Nick’s is worth a trip. Take a walk out on the pier, with a beer or glass of wine, to the little boathouse, then order some food to go pick up in the main restaurant and bring it back to the boathouse. Or head back to the restaurant. Great location.
