That didn’t take long. Quite amazing to see how much prices have climbed in (what seems to me) so many short years with supposedly subdued inflation, which I suspect has not benefited actual wine prices.

I’m drinking one of these 2000 Dom. de Panisse ‘Confidence Vigneronne’ [CNDP] right now, which I’ve had since release. I don’t think I’ve had the estate before, and only pulled it from storage a few months ago. The nose is lavender and the wine is dark for its age. However, I don’t get much complexity after 30 min in the glass, and 62F serving temperature. Lots of raisins and figs on the palate, maybe it was harvested a bit late. It tastes a bit modern styled. Maybe it needs to be consumed a bit younger, 19 years is a long time for estates that don’t have a track record / traditional harvest/elevage. For now just a B, perhaps it will perk up over the next few hours.

I remember being offered Vieux Telegraphe at $96 a case on pre-arrival from Kermit. Always someone older, I suppose.

Mordoree price is crazy high (for 2001), 3 times of todays ex-domaine price !
