Blackjack Harmonie Hunter---- 2002/$38/WTSO

Do it. You know you want to.

please tell me it comes with a coin trick and/or Russian hooker

ok guys, I know that this was the wine that was ‘swapped’ for another in bottle and jeff leve thought it was great . . .

but have any of you actually tried it? curious to hear . . .

Roger, the owner of this place, is quite passionate about Bordeaux and is very proud of these wines . . . I personally have not had the 02 but was curious to hear from those that had . . .

Cheers!

To be fair, I think it was a Ukranian hooker…

I have not had the 2002, but liked the 2001. This is a note from a few years ago:

2001 Blackjack Ranch Harmonie Blend - This has mellowed into quite a nice wine. Lots of sun baked earth (almost Rioja like), pencil lead, coffee and sweet blueberry on the nose. I remembered this being a tannic monster a couple of years ago, but it has mellowed quite quickly into secondary fruit. Lots of blueberry and sweet vanilla on the palate, with nice texture and body and a medium long finish.

I wonder if he’d notice if the hooker was swapped for one with an Adam’s Apple?

One with a lot of miles…

The wine was pretty good, by the way. No Latour, mind you, but pretty good, as I recall through the schoolgirl giggles (some of which were mine).

I remember tasting this wine last year…fair price @ WTSO. I thought it had nice fruit but nothing that got you very excited. I thought it was slightly light and the finish was lacking.

I have been to Blackjack about 6 or so times with friends and family and I am shocked at the prices they ask for their wines. I also hate the tackiness of their “Sideways” sign at the entrance.

I would compare the '02 Harmonie to a $20-30 '05 Bordeaux…but what do I know???

Not sure about the Harmonie, but I have enjoyed their Maximus syrah in the past–the 2001 had a huge camphor note that was quite memorable. I would like to see the syrah on WTSO!
