Low key birthday today. My partner had bunion surgery on both feet last week and needs lots of care and support.
Opened the 2010 Ch. Rayas as I just adore Rayas and have a good quantity of this vintage. Vibrant bright mid red colour. Wonderful nose of strawberries and raspberries. Archetypal Rayas palate. Pure Grenache goodness more in the cherry range compared to the nose. So intense, so deep so effortlessly powerful. Has a hint of something else like sandalwood as well. Bright and alive with excellent acidity. Label says 15% but drinks and taste like much less. Fine smooth tanins. For me this is Grand Cru red Burgundy made with Grenache.
Yes this is very young but is such a beautiful wine.
