Oakville grade is just windy as hell, not a fun drive imo, especially for passenger.
head to lick observatory in SJ. great views. once up there you can go the back way to the central valley, or head to livermore and maybe some tiny wineries. I used to work/volunteer for many years and loved the drive. if you go on a weekend, watch out for the bikes, its kinda an iron man bike ride, going from 200ft to 4200 feet elevation in about 20 miles. you cant drive fast, but it gives you many opportunities of where to go once you are there. if you do go on a weekend, make sure to see the great refractor telescope! still, the largest refractor in the world that is still used.
