Best Riesling now available at retail for <$25?

This is all great information. look this site http://www.vipcubancigars.com/blog/colors-cuban-cigars/ I think I’ll try some of the excellent wines suggested here. Thank you all. champagne.gif

I liked that Lauer Barrel X, yes, and it was nice and cheap. I just went ahead and bought a case of the Willi Schaefer since that seemed to be a consensus favorite and I found a good price on it.

The 2012 Steinmetz Brauneberger Juffer Kabinett Feinherb is a very nice wine, definitely sweet but the Feinherb is a bit dryer than an ordinary Kabinett. It was $21 at Flatiron.

I was at PJ’s on Saturday and tried the 2011 Losen-Bockstanz “L” Riesling Kabinett, which is pretty remarkably good for $10. What the blurb lacks in literacy, the wine makes up in QPR.

At MacArthur Liquors right now:

2012 Selbach Zeltinger Schlossberg Kabinett ($25)
2011 Selbach Zeltinger Sonnenuhr Kabinett ($23)
2011 Zilliken Saarburger Rausch Kabinett ($26)
2012 Shaffer-Frolich Bockenauer Felseneck Kabinett ($27)
2012 Rheinhold Haart Piesporter Goldtropfchen Kabinett ($23)
2012 JJ Prum Bernkasteler Badstube Kabinett ($24)
2012 Hexamer Quarzit ($18)
2010 Hexamer Quarzit ($19)

I’ll give Nathan the benefit of the doubt that he is unusually sensitive to acidity, but have to go with David here that the Donnhoff is delicious, pretty much year in and year out, and is not particularly unusual in its acidity.

To switch gears a little, toward Austria (and on average drier), you can’t go wrong with Schloss Gobelsburg’s “Gobelsburger”, or a small step up to the “Urgestein”.

You really can’t go wrong with Leitz Dragonstone (regardless of vintage) - at <$20, not much can beat it.

Ones already mentioned… Willi Schaefer Kabinetten, Hexamer Quarzit wines.
Not mentioned… Trimbach.

Hard to emphasize enough the elegance and purity of the Merkelbach kabinetts and Spatlesen.

Anything from Strub, Darting or Merkelbach. All delicious!
