BerserkerFest II, CA Central Coast---03/13/10 @ Loring Wine Company

Tex, I have no plans after I arrive so this nimrod will help out “again”.

If you would rather enjoy the party than be an indentured servant, there are many local options for service for 100 or 100+
It wouldn’t be Flannery, but I’ll bet I could get the HP II to come over there and grill us up a pretty good dinner, for a fair tariff.
No clean up, no worrying about obtaining supplies, just sit back and enjoy the food. They do this for a living, and they’re pretty good at it. Plus it might give people more of a window into the local scene.
Just a thought.

John, that is a good idea for sure. I do think that folks are partial to Flannery for these events and I don’t mind at all cooking for them…

Please add me to the wait list. This is far enough out it’s difficult to know my schedule.

Re John’s suggestion, I’ve been to a winery opening party (Ambullneo) that was catered by the HP crew and they did an excellent job. So, that’s always a fall-back.

Frank Murray hires some ‘help’ for Falltacular - two girls who just roam around cleaning and helping with food prep. By the end of the night, the place is spotless, everybody leaves, Frank goes to bed. Done.

I would recommend something similar.

I replied on the facebook event but can you put me +1. No more Chinese Buffet in Lompoc though

Hopefully I (& +1) can make it this time. Can you add me to the list (or wait list).

Please put me on the waitlist for this…

Please add me and +1 to the wait list…

Put me down for 2 on the wait list!!!

Tex; put me on “maybe” list. I have to convince the wife though. She was just out in that area of the world in JUne, so may want to go back.

What’s the closest or easiest airport to use coming from NYC?

Santa Barbara

Santa Barbara (SBA) - 45 minute drive

Santa Maria Airport (SMX) - 30 minute drive
United Airlines only through LAX

You can do JFK / LGA to SMX via LAX.
I recommend flying into one of these rather than LAX and rent a car. Nothing worse than that drive, and after all is said and done, probably the same amount of time and $ and much less stress.

For Mark, Leo and others who are north of the city…

I’m finding that 1-stop flights out of White Plains (HPN) are about $100 cheaper than anything out of LGA/JFK/EWR.

All the flights from HPN to SBA or SMX route through LAX so I will likely get a car in LA and drive up.

And on that note, you’ll typically pay $100 more per ticket flying from LAX to SBA / SMX, but for me, worth the stress of renting a car at LAX, and fighting the traffic up to and through SB. Trust me, it’s the worst I’ve ever seen lately, with major congestion through Camarillo and then past Carpenteria through SB. Took me 45 minutes to go 5 miles through this stretch.

Just food for thought.

*disclaimer: I’m just a country boy who hates traffic and stupid people on the roads…who create the traffic.

T,

Good point for those just coming in for the weekend. I plan to make a week of it and will spend some time in LA before/after so I hopefully won’t be driving in any kind of weekend/rush hr traffic.

Though I remember hitting traffic at 11pm coming from LAX on my last trip out…

I looked on Orbitz and didn’t see that price difference. Everything out of White Plains has two stops to it and they are 8+hr flights.

I suggest Brian builds a large runway at Loring.

If you are looking HPN, to SBA or SMX, yes it is 2 stops so 8+hrs.

HPN-LAX has multiple options with 1 stop in IAD or ORD and most of the layover options are 2 hrs or less. 6ish hrs with the stop. $266 all in. That to me is reasonable. I know for many travelers it may not be.

Anyone have anything good or bad to say about the Fox car rental co.?
