This is great! I did not know where the word came from.

Anyone have comparisons/thoughts between Grassl 1855 and Glasvin Kane for red wines? Each seem like quality products with lots to recommend. Have looked at threads on each individually but would appreciate any thoughts (here or PM) from folks who have tried both.

I have 40 offers showing at 9:27 PST. Is that correct? I’m thinking there should more.

Thanks

that is correct, and it is math - now there are 50 because it is past 9:30!

Pedro,

Kane here, designer of the Kane glass, and owner of a bunch of 1855s. They’re both great. The 1855 is a larger, wider bowl. It’s a great all around red glass. I love it. The Kane glass is a more modern design, and more of a universal. It’s a smaller volume glass than the 1855, but larger than some glasses like the Grassl Mineralite or Liberte, which I think are a touch on the dinky side (and I own them). Kane glass works well for bordeaux, and also slams with champagne or chardonnay or riesling. It’s utilitarian, and an effective glass.

I know that is probably me tooting my own horn a bit, but I think it came out really pretty well.

If I was going to drink an old burgundy or 82 Pichon Lalande, I’d probably reach for my 1855s. If I was opening almost any white, champagne, and most reds, I use my Kane stems.

is that going in your email signature from now on, bud?

Thanks so much, cheers!

It is the greatest accomplishment of my entire life. Even more so than my children, marriage, friendships, career, first person shooter video game skills. And it only took TWO tries to get the base the right diameter!

Hello. Is there any Durand offer ?? I saw a topic some time ago about this. Thx.
