Just some nice, cozy restaurants, in the Mitte/East preferably - not touristy- just good food and relaxed atmosphere to enjoy with friends. Also decent red wine suggestions appreciated. I’m tired of saying Zwei Geld. In fact any suggestions of any type most appreciated. I know Berlin but am always tied up with little time to really explore.
Only one I’ve been to, I know there are several German posters here who will have much better suggestions I’m sure:
Lutter & Wegner Restaurant Berlin
Charlottenstr. 56
Nicola,
here a few suggestions, also from the west part of BERLIN. I made this recommendations a few days to a danish person, so there are also some expensive restaurants in this list.
Restaurants
The best cook in town is Tim Raue and he makes in his restaurant near Checkpoint Charlie a kind of euro-asia-cuisine. Helpful maybe to go to lunch.

Another restaurant from Tim Raue is “Sra Bua” at the back of the Adlon Hotel near Brandenburg Gate. A restaurant with different asia cuisines and the restaurant styling is wonderful.
Here come a new restaurant from Tim Raue, opened since 3-4 weeks which is located also in the East and quite hip right now.

Here are other restaurants worht to visit:
The restaurant “Jolesch” in Kreuzberg makes austrian kitchen. BTW, the most popular dish in berlin is “Wiener Schnitzel”.

If you´re vegetarian than you have to visit the restaurant “Margaux” at the Brandenburg Gate. Of course you can also eat meat&fish there. But his veggie-Menu is really mind-blowing. Expensive Top-Restaurant.

Hotel Stue
With Top-cook from Spain
One of the best wine-carte for german wines and definitely the cheapest is the chinese restaurant “Hot-Spot”. The interiour is not good and the food is mixed…sometimes very good, somtimes disapppointing. But the wine-list especially for Mosel-Rieslings is
unique in Berlin. Located near the Kurfürsten Damm.

If you´re looking for a hip restaurant in Berlin Mitte then go to “Monsieur Vuong”. Also in this area are very good restaurants, shops, café. Worth to walk and be curious.

Finally, something special. Every Thursday there is “Street Food Thursday” at a market in Kreuzberg. From 17:00 to midnight. You can taste different food for little money. The coolest food-thing in Berlin right now. You have to go!!!

Have a good time in Berlin,
Martin
I will second the recommendaiton for Margaux, the only michelin star i have experienced with a vegetarian menu. We had it and it was great. It is not an relaxed atmosphere thought. Location right next to Brandenburger Tor.
If you are looking for the best steak in europe (and why not?) then you must visit Grill Royal in friedrichstrasse. Have been there severeal times. Service is not good, clientel is hip and well dressed, but it is the best meat in town. Wine list is ok.
Regarding MEAT I also recommend:
Thank you all so much . It’s very helpful. We’re off tonight and looking forward to it. Can you imagine last time we were there our hotel had a Lutter & Wegner as their restaurant. Unfortunately no longer.
Just came back from a weekend in Berlin and my wife and I really enjoyed eating at Rotisserie Weingrün in Mitte. Very good food, relaxed (we could bring our dog) and very fair prices. Around 25 euro for a wonderful steak.

If you’re in the mood for Asian food you should visit this Thai place:

We visit this place every time in Berlin.
Enjoy your trip
