Tonight’s supper was a rich beef & vegetable soup, using my steak left-over from Mattina’s. We also had another sable/arugula salad with the same dressing as before. Both, interestingly, were good with a 1983 Bitouzet-Prieur Volnay-Pitures; none of the rot that affected so many of the '83s; fill a cm below the capsule; nose and flavors of spicy dried red and black fruits; balanced mid-palate with barely adequate acidity; and a slightly short dried fruit finish. Not the best of the '83s we’ve had, but enjoyable with the meal.
Then for dessert we had TJ’s chocolate bars milk for Carollee and 72% dark for me, they were very nice with another 2006 Susana Balbo ‘Virtuoso’ late-harvest Malbec from Mendoza.
