Beaune Corkage

Any suggestions for a venue in Beaune with reasonable corkage? We’re a group scattering to visits w a few producers in the day and will inevitably have some purchased bottles we’d like to share informally with the others when we reconvene in town. Our hotel is quoting what seems to be a ridiculously high price - starting from 100 euros and escalating depending on crus status (a first for me). I appreciate every venue has their own wines to sell and we’ll be taking up space and stemware from those who would be buying off the list. And we’d certainly do same amidst out own supply Just wondering if anyone has a recommendation. It can’t be an irregular scenario. Otherwise we’ll suck up the corkage or gather at whomever’s room is biggest i suppose!

Corkage in Beaune sounds like bringing water to the ocean.

Our solution to this was a picnic. We visited one of the castles nearby and bought some food in their gift shop, and they were happy to have us sit at their tables outside. Unfortunately I don’t recall exactly which place it was. There’s also a large park near Beaune where you can picnic.

In my experience this past feb most producers will have very limited wine (if any) for sale at their domaine, and if you want any special bottles, shopping in beaune is a better bet to find them. Plus most restaurants will have those same special bottles for a very reasonable price and more guaranteed availability.

Most producers have nothing to sell…

Sure, good producers. But there’s plenty of wine for sale in Bourgogne…

Corkage really isn’t a thing in France. I’d suggest taking a little trip up to Jura and have a nice picnic by a waterfall. There’s a great chocolate shop up there called Hirsinger as well. My wife demands I bring her several boxes home whenever I’m in Burgundy.
