How about La Dominique for Pomerol? Though I don’t really know what their style is nowadays I used to love them back in the day.
I liked the '05 Clos Rene from Pomerol which I paid around $40. Not sure about other vintages.
And there’s lots of good choices from Pessac. My favorites under $59 are:
La Louviere
Larrivet-Haut-Brion
Malartic-Lagravière
Brown
Although La Dominique is close to the border of Pomerol, it´s still a Saint-Emilion !
Is Chasse Spleen more than $50? A big +1 for Potensac. Clos Puy Arnaud for Lalande is a stunning right bank-ish wine. Phelan Segur is a stunning value in St Estephe.
I think most agree that “little” doesn’t mean immediate pleasure. These wines still reward patience. Find some back vintages to experience their true character. IMO.
Duh, how did I do that?
