BDX and Faux BDX....

2008 Branon, Pessac-Leognan, Bordeaux
Rich, ripe dark fruits, somewhat rough tannins that need a few more years age, great balance and acidity. Needs 3-5 more years and peaks 2012-2040.

Followed by:

2005 Petrolo Galatrona, Tuscany, Italy
Tame, nice balance, aged nose of cedar, plums, and red fruits. Doppelgänger for 04 BDX.

Have a great weekend,

Kris

Tasted the '04 Galatrona…it did not in any way remind me of bordeaux, it seemed to lean a bit more new world…though I did think it was a gorgeous wine.

This didn’t really remind me of Galatrona, I usually get more chocolate and fruit. This was very understated with lots of BDX markers, cedar, currant, etc…

I’ve drank quite a bit of Galatrona, and 04 and 06 are much flashier.
