Of course, thank you! Did you try any Riesling yet? I will email you the Gutschein / Giftcard.
Great timing! And feel free to reach out if you want to chat about some other wines or recommendations.
Good morning everyone from Germany.
I have a couple topics I wanted to share with you.
#1 TARIFFS
New wines are arriving today in the USA today, and I had some of you reaching out to check if wine prices are going up. I have been talking to my wineries and partners and we should be able to keep the pricing pretty consistent. I don’t know yet how or if my current shipment will get hit with tariffs.
Luckily I am importing the wines directly which helps me manage the pricing and costs.
#2 For those of you who ordered the Riesling Bundles, here are my thoughts on aging, if you’d planning on doing so. Thanks for asking!
2017 Riesling Ortswein “Vom Kalk” x 1 → this is stunning right now, I bought all he had left. I was stoked to find something with a little bit more age on it. You should try one now, let me know what you think but I wouldn’t mind another 2 years. Especially because of the screw cap it ages slower.
2020 Riesling Ayler Kupp Kabinett x 1 → can definitely handle more age. 2020 was on the warmer side so it is fairly open right now already.
Dreissigacker Riesling Wunderwerk 2019 x 1 → it can age more but it also has been released by the winemaker because it is doing well already.
2021 Riesling Schlossberg Werther Windisch x 1 → can use more age! Definiltely a young wine. I also love to open them during the day and let the wine breath for a few hours before drinking them. Especially wines with a screw cap. I also just retasted the 2021 Lieth Silvaner Single Vineyard with Jens Windisch during my visit with him. It has opened up nicely since I bought it last year.
2021 Riesling Ayler Kupp Margarethenhof GG x 1 → drink now or keep for another 10 years easily. I am running low on inventory unfortunately. 2021 was a cooler climate, the acidity is awesome which brings a great tension to the wine.
2020 Riesling Ayler Kupp Reserve Margarethenhof x 1 → can handle more age. It is a very interesting wine. It shows more apricot and orange aromas and it has seen new, lightly toasted oak for 2 years. I am curious to hear what you think about it. I think that it is a great interpretation of Riesling!
I love all the feedback I am getting. Feel free to reach out any time and I will try to respond as soon as possible.
BD16 is still valid with 15% for Berserkers which is my small wine club discount.
Keep Drinking Like a German! This is the vineyard site where the GG Riesling is from!
I bet you already heard of it, Mini Berserker Day aka VinDependence Day is happening for the first time ever. I am getting some offers ready especially for the VinDependence Day next weekend. I hope that I will get to see you there.
The 11th is my dad’s birthday, I may have something here in his honor!
Tschüss, Lisa
