  • 2010 EMH Cabernet Sauvignon Black Cat Special Selection - USA, California, Napa Valley (7/27/2013)
    This wine is young bit has potential to be elegant. Much lighter on its feet than the regular bottling that we drank right after. Red cherry dominates. A little like a red jolly rancher on entry but not in a bad way. I think some of the tartness will mellow. We know we killed a baby but it was fun seeing where this wine has going for it. Much more sophisticated than the regular bottling. (94 pts.)

    Drank this after the 2010 Special Selection. More primary black cherry fruit with a nice tannic backbone and ample but not overpowering oak. Young and fun. More of winner from the crowd as a pop and pour. This wine should develop nicely over the next few years. (92 pts.)
