2003 David Franz Cellar Release Cabernet: This is simply outstanding, savoury dry red from the Barossa. There are some balsamic, black olive and cedar notes that could trick the nose into thinking we’re somewhere close to Alba but then there’s a wave of cassis laden with dark chocolate that screams Barossa. In the mouth it is dense and rich but not overly heavy. The acidity is relatively low and there’s a base of baked earth. It finishes with chewy tannins and is dry and a perfect accompaniment to a piece of sirloin barbequed rare.

Not sure Tom, Dave Lehmann just gave me a bottle the other day and said he was pretty pleased how a difficult vintage had turned out after sufficient cellaring.
I thought this was a Wendouree note…
