Badass Wine Study Handbook Kickstarter

I don’t know Nick personally, but I’ve been following his blog Medium Plus and I’m really excited about the handbook he’s writing.

Nick is an Advanced Somm, and is studying for Master, which makes him perfectly positioned to create a handbook for wine learning aimed at the ambitious student. One of the things I’m most excited about is that he’s writing down a logical approach to deductive tasting (blind tasting) which synthesizes a bunch of different approaches into a learnable set of concepts.

You can fund the Kickstarter (and get advanced copies of the handbook and personal lessons etc.) here!:

Wine education has changed a lot in recent years, especially with the explosion of regions and new understanding of how chemistry and winemaking affects sensorial properties. It will be awesome to have a handbook that crystallizes this knowledge.

Thanks for sharing this, Rajiv! I am not a strong candidate for the product’s reader base, but I believe it is a very smart move to tap into a growing area of study

The “Grid” approach to deductive identification of sampled wines is receiving a lot of attention these days. The author’s utilization of the “Palace of Memory” techniques is pretty cool, harkening back to Renaissance/Medeival (and before) practices a la Giordano Bruno.

I am a life-long learner, always holding a book in my lap and engaging in pet-research projects for fun. Unfortunately, I do not foresee this book sitting on my bookshelf.

Luckily my wife isn’t home, she would have thought me deranged as I giggled through that kickstarter page.
