Just recv’d a 10 pack of wagyu ribeyes for the 19.99/steak special they are still running. Added some ground wagyu to the order as well. I noticed that some of the steaks were a bit different than last time. Spoke with Allyn who said he slipped me some real japanese kobe at the same price. Also upgraded me to overnight from 2 day at no cost. Great customer service. Looking forward to trying one of the kobe steaks soon. ![]()
Not my experience at all when trying to order online. They took my CC and charged it but were gonna wait two business days before shipping it…which over a three day holiday weekend would have been a solid week.
Only my second order but so far so good. Ordered yesterday, showed up by noon today. Talk to allyn(alan) if you didn’t already.
How’s quality compare to Flannery? Just curious, not trying to start a beef ![]()
Tom, I think that comparing the Wagyu I would give the nod to Austin. I still would rather have Bryan’s aged CA Reserve vs. anything else on the market though.
Thanks, Bill. Yeah, I wouldn’t trade Bryan for anything … but it’s never bad to have a good outlet for steak. Sounds like it’s worth checking out, particularly at the price!
Just make sure that both you and the person you deal with understands the shipping requirements you need.
Sounds Texas. But they’re from da Bronx.

Excellent point. Thanks, my friend.
I ordered 10 of the “Kobe” NY Strips a couple of weeks ago for $199, and we had our first 2-pack last night. They processed the order and shipped them quickly (priority overnight), and the steaks arrived frozen and in vaccum-sealed plastic bags, 2 per bag. Even when frozen, I noticed a great deal of color variation with the steaks; some were red, and some were clearly more towards the brownish/grey end of the color spectrum. They were all still frozen upon arrival, so I threw them in the freezer. I selected a 2-pack on Saturday, and thawed them over the course of a couple days in the fridge.
When I opened the steaks last night, there was a very strong “aged” component to the aromas; from a color standpoint, these steaks were brownish/grey, with no red. I’ve ordered from Flannery many times, but these were an alltogether different story. They weren’t spoiled, but definitely not my cup of tea – my first thought was of something that Washington Hogwallop said in Oh Brother: “I’m afraid she’s startin’ to turn.” Referring of course to the Horse that he butchered last Tuesday, which was the meat in their stew.
Long story short, my labrador retrievers appreciated them very much; my wife and I, not so much. I’m going to contact them today and see about sending the other 8 steaks back; at least 3 of them look to be in the same condition as the 2 from last night. Disappointing to say the least; from a taste, marbling/appearance and texture standpoint, they were certainly not anywhere near the level of quality of the USDA Prime NY Strips that I purchase at Wegman’s for ~ $25 per pound. Maybe I was just unlucky, but this was easily my most disappointing meat purchase from an on-line purveyor.
