Last week, Audelssa threw a “mixer”. Usually about once a month, a Sonoma Valley winery will host. It is really great because everyone brings some wine, so not only do you get to taste the latest from the host, but several other wines as well.
The WOTN to me was the (yet to be released) 2007 Audelssa Tempest. This is a Cote Rotie style Syrah with 5% Viogner. Incredible aroma, body, and balance. Considering it was bottled very recently, it was extremely impressive.
My 2nd favorite was also from Audelssa, the 2007 Audelssa Summit Reserve. This is a Merlot/Cab Franc blend that also is not available yet. An incredible wine, but I often enjoy Merlot based wines.
The other wine from Audelssa that I loved was the 2007 Audelssa Napa Zinfandel. I don’t drink much Zin from Napa, but this was awesome. It’s hard to really describe, but there is a certain flavor profile I look for in a Zin, and this one had it.
Nice job on these 3 wines, Erich. Very, very impressive.
The other wines I enjoyed were:
2007 Imagery White Burgundy
2006 Loxton Sonoma Hillside Syrah (nice acid in this one, I am sure it is a phenomenal food wine)
2007 VJB Barbera (almost as good as their 2004, which is the best domestic Barbera I’ve ever had)
