Here is a group pic taken by Charles Johnson. You can see Todd on the left. This was early in the evening. Everyone looks fresh. That is Mike Evans that I am pouring champagne for on the right. Randy and Cris Katz. Chuck Taylor in the back. Gary Margol in the foreground.
We had quite a crowd. Everyone had been vaccinated which was a requirement. I will try to get more of these pictures to work. There are a couple that are wonderful.
Haha, so the funny thing is that Bob didn’t recognize me. That was right as I walked in and said hello. (You can see the snazzy hotel laundry bag I used to wrap my wine bottle when I walked to dinner just post flight.) Bob came over to me 10 minutes later and said, “who are you again?” I was like Bob, it’s me, Eric, well 2/3 of the former me.
The next day I had the same thing happen when I walked up to Mark Taylor. I could literally see in his eye the “who the fuck are you?” look, but this time I was ready for it.
Thanks so much to Don, Randy, and everyone else. So many majestic wines. Such glorious food. Most of all, so strange and WONDERFUL to be in a roomful of people again and be social. It frankly took me a few days to adjust to that. But such a wonderful, sweet, gracious and generous crew in Atlanta!!!
So envious! Looks like a fantastic time with great people and wines.
Question - Safe to assume that 2010 Jadot Pougets magnum was tight? That wine was only showing a glimpse out of 750ml when I last had it about a year ago.
