Armagnac question - Chateau de Laubade

You wouldn’t or would’ve?

Sorry wouldn’t.

Also if you haven’t made your way over to fine drams yet, I would, lots of artisanal Armagnac and cognac producers there.

I have already been loving on your recommendation of L’Encantada and another’s recommendation (in the same thread) of De Pellehaut 1989 - both amazing. Got me hooked.

Jean Luc Pasquet and Normandin Mercier make some amazing Cognac that they sell on finedrams; they are definitely worth checking out. L’Encantada is a superb source; I’m not sure if I’d go as far as to call them the Pappy of brandy like some people are but they have found some very interesting casks.

Anyone with advice on which to get other than '82? The descriptions aren’t doing it for me lol

what’s the ABV? 40%?

There are some reviews here on whiskyfun, but it looks like the vintage dated ones they have are cask strength.

Yeah, all 40% unfortunately (when I spend decent coin on a spirit I love when it is barrel strength as it’s like getting 850ml instead, once you add a few drops)

Not sure I can be of much help regarding those vintages of labaude.

This is a stunner though.

+1, That is a nice one. Fine Drams is a dangerous place, unreal selections

I got another bottle of Normandin Mercier Tres Vielle recently. It’s… just ridiculous. Average age of over 100 years, so bottled pre WWI. Interesting to think about what was going on in the world.

Agreed so is the la Peraudiere in carafe if available.

I mentioned earlier in the thread, but there are still some Cognac selections from the “Aficionados” Discord server (Grosperrin) via Finedrams. The Armagnac and Cognac picks have all been terrific, but the latest Armagnac pick is sold out. The folks over there do an amazing job with most spirits selections.

It’s unbelievable that you can buy the 10 year old cask strength normandin mercier petite champagne for $60.

This one, the 500ml?

Yeah. All of the NM stuff is amazing. I first found out about this producer from a tasting I went to at Wine House in LA, but yeah phenomenal.

Picked this up for my 50th this weekend. Since I have a real shortage of outstanding choices in ‘72 I didn’t think I would do anything. Stumbled across this for a fair price so figured I’d give it shot.

I had a free drink coming to me at my hotel, saw Norman Mercier VSOP on the menu and I enjoyed it vs the big houses.

And the special bottles at fine drams have been blowing me away, I had to put them in the back of the cabinet as the levels were dropping precipitously.

(Thanks for the rec’s MC!).
