Are your stylistic preferences consistent?

Do you enjoy the same “style” of wine across all varieties or do you have different preferences for different varieties?

I’m squarely in the Pro-Flavor Bourgeoise Birgade for almost all varieties except for PN. I prefer a more restrained PN style, at least these days. This is for reds.

I’m not sure I’ve pinned down my preferences for whites as I drink white wine so infrequently compared to reds/bubbles.

I’m not such a good one to answer this as I’m an omnivinovore, and I like good wines in different styles from most grapes and regions.

But I do understand your point, that certain grapes and regions may express themselves better in certain styles, and it isn’t necessarily always the same style that works best for every grape and region. I don’t think there is anything inconsistent in saying, for example, that you like California grenache when it’s bigger and riper but prefer California pinot from cool sites and with less ripeness and higher acids.

Sometimes you just got to have that blueberries and cream snow cone syrup!
