Anyone on the Thomas Winery allocation list?

I was reviewing my anticipated allocation offerings the remainder of this year and there are 4 that I will definitively be purchasing.

  1. Rochioli small block Pinot-this is without a doubt my favorite. I just made it last year after an 11 year wait! I took all 27 bottles offered and will this year as well as wish listing 3 bottles of West Block. Given the vintage, I’m beyond excited!
  2. The fall release of Kutch-I will go deep as well here. In particular I’m uber excited about the Trout Gulch Chardonnay…Jamie thinks it may be his best ever, which says a lot given his track record. His '14 may be my favorite domestic Chard up until now.
  3. The '18 release of Piper Napa Cab-stunning juice IMO
  4. Finally, the '18 Thomas-just made the list last year and took eight 750’s and two mags. My problem is my addled brain can’t remember when I received my letter, can anyone help? Thanks in advance, I adore this site!

How much is their main pinot when you’re on the list? And how long does it take to get on the list?

The letter usually arrives second half of September or early October. Wine officially released in early November, but ship date depends on where you live - ie, May receive wine in November…or January.

The price has remained fairly steady, but depends on part on which package you buy and where you live. For someone in Seattle, price is $60-65 per 750, which includes shipping. I assume slightly more for those that live further afield.

I don’t believe there is a wait to be on the list, but maybe that’s changed over the last few years.

Scott T. is right. My 2017 release letter was postmarked October 10, 2019 and I seem to always recall receiving the letter in October. I’m a NC resident, so weather permitting the wine will be shipped in November or the following spring. I just checked a few old emails and I received my 2015 Thomas wines in April 2018. I was in no hurry, but I think that John prefers to be prompt with the shipments.

Also, I’m not aware of a current wait to be on the list. If you spend much time in the WV, you might be surprised by the number of winery tasting room folks who don’t even know about Thomas. He is a good dude running a one man operation. Enjoy the wines.

Early October for mailer. East Coast prices have stayed under $70 per bottle shipped, which makes it a world class bargain IMHO.
