Thinking of renting a house there on the beach in Feb next year. Anyone stayed there?
Tons of times. Feb. is a little more chilly than you might think for that part of Florida however.
There probably won’t be much activity going on at that time either but there are plenty of places to eat and hang out.
No doubt…February can be risky in many parts of Florida if your goal is to enjoy the water as we can get some nice fronts that come through. Mid-late March is probably best or you could pick someplace further south as well.
FYI, I’ve never been to Seaside…and have hardly spent anytime at all in the redneck riviera in my lifetime…so I can’t help with any particulars.
lived between Mobile, NO, and P’cola 1987-1999 and watched Seaside get built. litany of sins i have committed down there…
as mentioned above if Feb make it late Feb and truly you’d be much better off end of March to early April. you may be able to save some $$$ by checking out Seagrove, Santa Rosa Bch or Greyton Bch as they don’t quite make the national radar like Seaside. Bud & Alley’s you have heard about, Criolla’s you should seek out and don’t miss The Lake Place if you like fish…
Seaside is a wonderful community.
The beaches are nice.
It is not really private.
Down the road Watercolor is also quite nice.
You will have great food.
30A is down the road. A nice restaurant.
I can get some more info it you need it.
when 30A first opened i went there with a very naughty young lady named Shawn and we noticed the miss-marked Niebaum-Coppola Rubicon from 1991. think they had it @ $44! we bought and popped two bottles immediately and were on our way to getting hammered when the owner came up and explained the error basically asking us to pay the proper list price, think it was $144. we acted aghast at his suggestion saying we would have never bought the wine at that price and he had us finish apps and leave!!!
i still have matches from that night.
By the way…when it comes to the Gulf Coast…I’m partial to Sarasota. Pristine Beaches, ability to find a quiet place to stay and still be close to great restaurants and other items of interest like Selby Gardens and the Ringling Museum.
Thanks guys I’ll steer toward late March / early April.
Family has 4 condos in Seagrove Beach. I will be up there for 2 weeks in December. I see myself retiring there in 100 years.
We stay in Destin down the road at least once a year (usually in warmer months)… a new place opened this year in Seaside called the Shrimp Shack that is perfect for steamed shrimp, some good cheap wine, and a wonderful view. They have a small outdoor pavilion with tables. During the late summer I think is Royal Red shrimp season, spectacular. A few pics…
I will have to check that out. I tend to park my butt at Bud & Alleys Taco Shack. I am sure its not the tequila causing that…
