I was there this past weekend and was amazed at the quality and feel of these over-sized cab/bordeaux glasses. I believe they were Schott made, but an exclusive line specifically sold in WS. $39 per kept me at bey, figuring the interent would show a discount some way or another.
I am sure they will break just as easily as the Tritan Forte and Pure line. While I like the lines and shape, they do not deliver on the ruggedness that the Titanium Glass is supposed to have. Broke another one this past weekend and broke three when Bowden was in town.
I need some new glasses, and see that Sur la Table carries the Cru, as does WS. They look interesting online. I’ll have to get a better look at the store.
I have been using the Diva Burgundy and Riesling glasses for some time now. I think they are just labelled “Red” and “White”, but I may be wrong. Am very pleased with them. The Burgundy glass is extremely versatile, and works well with Pinots of all sorts, Nebbiolo, Syrah, other Rhone Varietals, and even as good with some new world cabs as my Bordeaux glasses.
For the record, I have only ever broken one - and I am not a person who treats my glasses very carefully!
Bill - I just saw this. I’ve had just the opposite experience with the Pure line. We’ve used them for our primary glasses for about 9 months (in the dishwasher each time) and have only broken 2 and those were obvious situations (i.e. knocked over hard on granite countertops, etc.). With my old Spiegelau, my wife would break at least 1 per week and dishwashing was out of the question. I love the Pure for everyday and BYOB/off-line functions. Vinum XL & Sommelier Series for top end tastings at the house.
