Anyone else attending the RWC's Wine & Art Converge event in NY?

Sitting researching some of the producers I am unfamiliar with - looks like some fun stuff!

I would if I was around but I won’t be.

When I tried to sign up, I was told the event is already sold out. But if anyone has an extra ticket or two, Chelsea and I are interested in going.

-bump-

Nobody?

Turns out that Barry squeezed me in. Perhaps they had a cancellation or two. I will be there.

Michael - Did you happen to taste the 89 G.B. Burlotto Barolo Monvigliero? What a wowza wine!

That was pretty great, I liked it a lot. There were a number of excellent wines, including the 2002 Philipponnat Clos des Goisses and the 2007 Mascarello Barolo Monprivato, both of which were so young but had such amazing potential and were already nicely balanced. And that 1912 Madeira was just gorgeous and mellow. But man was it hot when we first got there! I was nearly starting to sweat by the time they figured out how to cool the place down.

Michael - We arrived early and left fairly quickly because it was just too damn hot in the space. The 1912 D’Oliveira Verdelho was my WOTD and on its heels was the 89 Burlotto -esp. since I haven’t been drinking aged Nebbiolo lately. Agree that the Clos des Goisses was excellent --but somewhat tight – the bottle I tasted from had just been opened. I also enjoyed the 91 Lopez de Heredia - but couldn’t get past the nose of the 1994 Cune Vina Real which to me really smelled like dog shit. I was disappointed that they only showed one wine from Huet and that it was a baby.

Really didn’t taste much else - although I recall not liking the 09 Lafon Volnay Lurets - as I was content to sip my very generous pour of the Monvigliero and to finish with the Madeira.
