I figured this was the best place to post this topic due to the constituents, but feel free to move it.
Anyway, I’m looking for property where I can hunt pigs and figured wine country all over the state is great pig hunting territory. I’m happy to share meat, or work out just about any arrangement you may prefer. I’m grateful for any opportunities that may be out there. If you or someone you know are interested please shoot me a PM. I’ve been hunting for 19years, will show the property and it’s owners the utmost respect, and would be happy to help out around the property.
Oh yeah, I like to throw offlines with my bounty, and you would most certaintly be invited to attend.

Cheers!
We occasionally have some wild pigs in the vineyards . . . drop me a line and we can talk if you’d like . . .
I would also be interested in wild boar hunting as well as the particulars of doing said event as an out of state hunter.
To get a CA license you must have proof of hunter education. CA license fees are $143.35 for out of state and pig tags are $37.50 each for out of state. Additionally, most likely you will be hunting in the Condor Range which has a lead ban. Only non-lead bullets are allowed, which would require additional sighting in for non-lead. Comparing 160gr lead to 160gr non-lead at 100 yards with a 7mm Rem Mag I was 7 inches high with non-lead.
Here’s some pig pr0n for you Bill.
Nice pics.
I can swing those dollars no problem and can get Trophy Bonded SledgehammerTungsten solids or Barnes X for my .375 H&H…I like to bring too much killing stick to the fight when boars are involved.
Holy crap and you planning on finding Hogzilla? That is some serious lumber for piggies, but I guess I shouldn’t expect anything less from a guy with Tex in his name and a self professed “King of Meat” title.
More importantly, can I shoot it? The biggest I’ve shot is my Dad’s .300 Weatherby.
Shooting it is a hoot. I bought it for hog hunting in serious scrub and underbrush mesquite. Plus, if I ever run into a a 600 pounder, I won’t be under gunned. Next, I am gonna get a .458 Lott for kicks and giggles.
Of course you can squeeze off a couple of rounds.
Hey Bill. I have three dozen of these in my back yard.
We do!!!
But Jabali are a protected species in Southern Spain. Hunting for perdiz (pheasant) though is a big sport here. There may be a time of the year that it is open season or some good reasons to legally hunt them. I wish property damage was one.
Can I sit on the back porch and sip BDX while I shoot them?
Them ain’t pigs… Javelina (tayassuids) are separated from pigs (suids) by about 35 million years of evolutionary history. And if you do shoot one, they have a dorsal musk gland over the lumbar vertebrae that must be quickly and carefully excised to prevent tainting the meat.
Have you ever smelled one of these suckers? Who would want to eat them?
Bill it would be difficult to sit on the patio and pick them off since they are usually already there.
Yep, I’ve smelled them. I’ve had the meat of one of their South American cousins and it didn’t taste like the smell of the live critter… again, the trick seems to be getting that scent gland out, toot sweet…
Last year a buddy of mine who is a vineyard mamager was going to give a resident worker (lives on the particular property and has specific responsibilities there) a ton of grief because when my friend got there, the irrigation was not on and it was about ten hours late. Turns out the worker had tussled with a pig in the garden and got his biceps ripped open and needed emergency surgery. I think he learned that pigs are nothing to trifle with…
But some things make pigs seem like nothing…two nights ago a friends worker who was spraying got off the tractor and as he walked back to the rig he realized there was a big-ass mountain lion that was watching him intently as though he had been tracking him. The guy jumped up on the rig and from what I hear his hair is still standing on end. They had noticed way less pigs in the vineyard this year…he told me this as we, and our wives, were walking to our cars in a vineyard at dusk about a half mile away.
I bent down to tie my tennis shoes and he said “hey, why bother- you can’t outrun a mountain lion”, to which I replied, “I dont have to, I just have to outrun you”. (I’m kidding about that comment, but the rest is as related to me)
More evidence for the Wine Shark thread…quite GUSTATORY…nice read.
