Any updates on restaurants n Lisbon

Planning a trip in August.

Following. Going in Sept.

Tentações de Goa - may feel odd but given the history with India it was interesting and the food was fantastic

We though Canalha was fantastic. Low key neighborhood place. It looked like we were the only tourists in the place. A+.

O Velho Eurico - no real wine list to speak of but small fun place, great food, daily menu. Make a reservation because there’s a line of locals and it fills up quickly.

Timely thread! We are going in June. Starting to get excited…

If it helps your research, our plans are for Taberna Sal Grosso, Officio and Essencial. May sub in Mini Bar for the fun factor of the place. I also want to get to Canalha for lunch if we can. I would love any thoughts or recent experience on any of these spots.

I love this board for travel stuff as well as vino matters, and mined the forums heavily for these ideas and others experiences. Truly great advice here!

hopefully you’re there in June for the Festas de Santo Antonio, it was super cool, tons of street vendors and nothing better than some Super Bock and grilled sardines

We found Mini Bar disappointing. The dishes were not at all original- mostly mediocre versions of things we’ve all seen before (i.e. el Bulli olive) at tariffs that felt disproportionately high. I would recommend finding alternative.

We are!! Thank you for pointing it out. It will be fun to be there.

Yes - I saw your post with @Zachary_Ross in another thread so I know the food won’t be the star. It would be for a late dinner and staying for the DJ and the atmosphere, but havent committed yet. Thank you for the heads up!

We loved A Nossa Casa. My review:

A Nossa Casa. Dinner, Bairro Alto. The Rua da Atalaia is lined with ridiculous bars/discos with countless young barkers trying to ply you with free shots. At the lower end of the maelstrom is this homey little spot on the corner that offers creative and seasonal Portugese-Brazilian cuisine at a very fair price. The food is very high quality and the service here was fantastic; we became friendly with Natasha, the host and proprietor. Massive QPR here as we had five dishes plus bread with miso butter, the most expensive white wine on the list, and a glass of red, all for 130 euros. Small place with maybe 24 seats and high in demand so reservations are crucial, and they only take them by phone. Highly recommended.

Not fancy or anything but I think my favorite meal was Ramiro. It’s a blast. Wide selection of fresh seafood plus vinho verde and beer in a lively ambiance. Hard to go wrong!

That was our favorite meal in Lisbon as well.

We really liked Ramiro as well. The quality was very good and it was a fun, rowdy atmosphere.

Best experience we had in Lisbon was Red Frog Speakeasy though, easy. Followed by Taberna da Rua Das Flores

We also went to Belcanto, which was good but I wouldn’t say great. But to be fair large tasting menus are normally not our favorite dining form. The service was good and there was plenty of food and wine!

We also enjoyed Ramiro- seafood was great and the staff were enthusiastic and entertaining. We were trying to keep tabs on a Champions League match on my phone. Our table was very popular with several of the waitstaff who were equally interested, but trying to avoid getting caught watching the match.

Any current hotel recs for Porto and Lisbon? Location is foremost, followed closely by luxury and service.

Highly recommended.
