Kept many around over the years thinking that I would go back and browse through them or want to look for something in particular. However with the advent of so much auction data online and reviews of wines online there is little reason to ever look at the actual catalogs. Don’t think I’ve gone back to look at a paper copy in many years and really should dig up and throw out all of my saved catalogs buried here and there. Really the same thing with old issues of WS, WA and Tanzer, etc…just too much trouble to store and dig up specific issues to look at anything when pretty much everything you would want to find/use can be quickly pulled up on line. Quite frankly the only wine related things that I ever go back to the paper on are the SQN mailers because so often there is specific vineyard, varietal blend, production or other data contained in them…but now that there are some online resources, doubt I’ll even do that again.
No compelling reason I can think of. I keep ones I’ve had lots up for sale in out of sentimentality and because that’s a pretty small population at this point.
i quite like the different colored flames the pages throw off as i light my winter fireplace. i’ve noticed some beautiful blue hues from the morrell catalogues specifically.
