Tonight’s light supper, following last night’s extravaganza. was 1/3 lb crab, seasoned with onion powder, Herbes de Provence, capers in balsamic, celery seed, orange peel, chervil, and a little SI Spicy Seafood Seasoning, blended with a couple Tbs mayonnaise. A small salad of Mr.G’s arugula and salad greens, dressed with a Provençal dressing - Herbes de Provence, onion powder, orange peel, lavender in a mixture of Blood Orange Olive Oil and Champagne vinegar. The avocado half, from a perfectly ripe and rich California Haas avocado. was placed on the dressed salad, sprinkled with SI Beau Monde seasoning and the remains of the salad dressing. Then the crab mixture was placed on the avocado, and served.
Wine was a lovely rich 2002 Dom. Jacques-Prieur 1er Cru Puligny-Montrachet ‘Les Combettes’ - color a bright medium green-gold; rich, expansive nose & flavors of complex, flowery white fruits; balanced mid-palate with bright acidity; and a long, complex flowery fruit finish. It was excellent with the salad.; a nice meal out on our patio on a warm, sunny summer evening.
Then for dessert, inside in the den watching TiVo’d programs, we had some of the home-grown peaches, that Bill Ackerman brought over for everyone last night, macerated in vanilla sugar and Grand Marnier on a half a buttermilk biscuit each with heavy cream. We each had a small snifter of Grand Marnier with the shortcake. Yummy.
