Angélus also withdraws from St. Emilion classification

Another Bond reference?

Care to comment on Angelus as the fallen Saint?

Sorry - can’t risk the yellow card.

Noble King.

Does that mean that they will have to issue a product recall on their 2012?

I think they can just release another commemorative special edition bottle to mark their withdrawal. An etched bottle with a bunch of “scratch marks” where the Premier Grand Cru Classe used to be.

Thank you for your service.

An interesting conversation with a knowledgeable friend. He feels Pavie would be crazy not to withdraw as well. The exclusive club is the former Grand Cru Classe A, and if they withdraw it can never be taken away.

Someone tell them the exclusive club is and will always be Ausone and Cheval Blanc, you know it, I know it, and the American people know it.

I, of course, agree, but there are plenty of people who feel that the two deserved the upgrade.

Maybe the Pavie people could do this to decide what to do…

If they withdraw, they lose their A status starting with the 2022 vintage. Only 2012-2021 will be at an A status. The same for any estate leaving the classification means they are no longer classified starting with the 2022 vintage.
