An 01'er and an '08'er

In the steam bath that is called NYC these days I brought some Rieslings to Brooklyn last night and enjoyed them with good friends.

The 2008 AJ Adam Dhroner Hofberg Kabinett was mediocre again for the second showing in a row. Simple tropical flavors, decent acidity and just general boredom. I am so on the fence for this producer. '07 Kabinett brilliant, '08 boring, '05 Hofberg Reserve I am one for five. Not so good odds.

Also had the 2001 Kerpen Wehlener Sonnenuhr Spatlese Bird Label* which was very good and had that lovely 2001 snap, with ripe apple, kiwi and mango flavors with nice creaminess. Also a load of petrol on then nose and some on the palate. Not the most minerally '01 but classic WS and was a steal at $17 when I got it.

I have drank many other Germans but will save those for another post.
