All things Oregon Chardonnay

His son, Jake Kinne, markets his own line under the Jacob Martin label. To bring it back to chardonnay, the Jacob Martin chardonnay is about $21 in the Portland market and is a terrific wine for the price. It’s not made in a reductive style and I’m pretty sure they don’t do malolactic on this cuvee, so it generally comes across as bright and fresh, and is food friendly. I buy a lot of it at the local upscale supermarket and it’s definitely worth checking out.

Had the Perry Colin Oregon Blanc last week. It was really nice and definitely has stuffing to age and develop further.

  • 2024 Perry Colin Chardonnay Oregon Blanc - USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley (3/29/2026)
Decanted for 1h before per producer recommendation and followed over an evening.

This wasn’t showing all its cards on first pour, but there was a lot of tension, mineral spine, acidity, and just hinting to tropical fruit. Underripe pineapple, green pears, white florals, lemon oil. Tons of phenolic extract with really nice length.

Don’t be off put by the reference to tropical fruit—this is 12.5 ABV and shows its power and weight very well.

Pretty stunning for an entry level wine, and gives me real excitement for the single vineyards.

    91-92ish

That four winds is really nice! Got lucky and found half a case of the 2010 and have been drinking them over the last year, keep some!

Havent had much crowley red, but last month we opened a 2008 entre nous:

Still fresh and holding up. Opened with some bottle funk that quickly blew off, aromatics and a little oak still present. Plenty of acidity and tannins still not fully resolved, no rush on these. In fact, maybe hold 5 more years.
